Trying to get on a winning streak

Thursday’s Review

     As I begin trying to find something that works, I turned to the most common picks section, in search of a possible double down pick. I picked MikeTrout for my double down, and for the second time in a week he failed me by going 0-3.  

     Overall the common picks are 6-8 since I started looking at them. I will see how it plays out over the weekend.

     Look who is on the top of the list for today, MikeTrout. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. Looking back the last time he went 0-for- in two consecutive games he did get a hit the next game. I then looked back to 2014to see if there was some type of trend. Once he did go 0-for- in four consecutive games, and he also had a three game 0-for- once, other than that he was consistent all year. 

     Rodriguez is starting his first game of the season. Last year with Pittsburgh he pitched in 26.2 innings giving up 27 hits and 20 ER’s.

     Chase Field is considered a hitters ballpark, but in this early season the ESPN hitfactor is .971. 

     McCutchen has only 6 hits in his last ten games, and has hit safely in five of the last ten games. Right now he is on a 3 game 0-for- streak getting only 2 hits in the four game series against the Cub’s. 

     Collmenter had a dominant game against the Giants going 9 full innings for his first win of the season. However in his first two games at home, he could not get past the fifth inning, giving up 19 hits and 7 ER’s.

     Heston controlled the Rockies for 7 innings in his first meeting with them. He gave up only 1 run on a Tulowitzki RBI single. At the time the Giants were struggling to win at home until the Giants sweep the Dodgers in San Francisco. 

     Tulowitzki has had a hit in 8 of his last ten games, and has had only 3 0-for- games the whole month of April.

RobinsonCano vs. PhilHughes.

     Cano is on a 9 game hit streak after going 0 for 13 in the Athletic series. He is also 14 for 36 .388 at home. 

     Hughes is 0-3 and has not gotten past the sixth inning, giving up 24 hits and 11 ER’s. The Twins are also 2-7 on the road scoring 22 runs while giving up 45 runs.

     The Tigers are still, in my opinion, one of the hottest teams in baseball. They started out 11-2 until they came up against the Yankees, who took 3-4 games in Detroit. The Tigers are facing the Indians at home. The Indians are 3-7 in their last ten games.

     Cabrera was 2-14 in the Yankees series, and the last time he faced the Indians, he was 11-14, and has never gone two consecutive games without a hit.

     Salazar is starting his second game of the season. Against the Twins in Minnesota he gave up 2 runs on 6 hits over 6 full innings.
