Friday’s Review

Andrew McCutchen and Troy Tulowitzki did not receive any hits on Friday. The good news is that not many of the top 50 players did not pick them. I really don’t count Tulowitzki because he did not start the game. This is one of the issues that I do see for this game. If you pick a player that does not start the game your pick does not count. If that same player does come in as a pinch hitter later in the game the AB counts.

For many of us we are not available at the beginning of the game to pull our pick if that pick is not starting. Not really sure when the line ups are posted for viewing online and even if they were available early enough they still are not official until they are handed to the umpires.

Desmond is on a 10 game hit streak and is 3-11 against Koehler. The only other time he faced him was once in 2013 going 1-4 and three times in 2014 going 1-2 0-2 1-3.

 Koehler will be starting in his fourth game this year. In his first two outings he pitched against the Braves. He gave up 6 hits in the first game and 5 in the second game and 2 ER’s in each. In the game he pitched against the Mets he got shelled going only 3.1 innings giving up 5 hits and 7 runs. The last time he faced the Nationals in Miami he pitched 7 innings giving up 1 hit and 0 runs. 

Mike Trout vs. Colby Lewis

Trout went 1-4 last night against the Rangers. In this home stand he is 3-16. Trout is 7-for-20 with two home runs off Lewis. 

Lewis is 2-3 against the Angels in Anaheim with a 3.62 ERA in six starts. His ERA is 3.79 giving up 8 runs in 19 innings of work. However he has given up 20 hits over those same 19 innings.

Troy Tulowitzki vs. Tim Hudson

Tulowitzki got the day off on Friday. In the last ten games he is only batting .235 and has an AVG of .154 against Hudson. 

Hudson is pitching against the Rockies for the second time in two weeks. The last time he pitched 7 innings giving up 8 hits and 3 run. He has always pitched well against the Rockies especially in San Francisco.

Cano’s hit streak is now 10 games. You have to start being concerned with high hits streaks when they start getting that high, however I don’t think this one is ready to end.
